I found a presentation by Mr. John S. Canning, Chief Engineer of G80 Division Naval Surface Warfare Centre, titled “A Concept of Operations for Armed Autonomous Systems”. Armin Krishnan commented on some of the John Canning’s thoughts during his interview with Institute of Religion and Peace (access Krishnan interview post).

Interview with Armin Krishnan on Military Robot Ethics

Another interesting interview from Institute for Religion and Peace (Military Diocese of the Republic of Austria) was with Armin Krishnan, a visiting assistant professor for Security Studies at the University of Texas at El Paso. His recent book “Killer Robots” (2009) talks about ethics of autonomous weapons, and details of the book can be found here.

Interview on Roboethics (Gianmarco Veruggio, Fiorella Operto)

For those of you who use Facebook, there is a roboethics Facebook group called ‘roboethics’, created by Dr. Gianmarco Veruggio. It hasn’t been too active, partially due to the fact that some of the posts are in Italian and some are in English. But there’s 67 members who joined the group, and I found out about the following roboethics related interviewsfrom it – and later from Wendell Wallach and Colin Allen’s blog, Moral Machines.

Unmanned Vehicle Systems Canada Conference: Ethics Presentation

Only about three weeks ago, one of my friends from the University of Waterloo was attending the UVS(Unmanned Vehicles Systems) Canada Conference in Victoria, BC.
When he paid a visit to Vancouver and met up with me, I was surprised to hear from him that many people showed concerns for ethics of the technology during discussion sessions. United States has Dr. Ronald Arkin and others who are very active in the field, but I am not too aware of any ethicist/engineers specializing in ethics of military technologies (including UVS).
