CFP: Robot Ethics Anthology (MIT Press)

There’s nothing like the tingly feeling I get when I receive roboethics related Call for Papers.
First, there’s the excitement that motivates me to write or to think about writing. Then, there’s the anticipation for the papers to be published. Regardless of whether I end up contributing or not, there’s that exciting feeling of ‘I can’t wait for it to be published so that I can start reading them!’.

Merry Christmas! (with Christmas Robot Dances)

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the visitors to the Roboethics Info Database (aka. tin can thoughts).
Since May 25th, 2008 (the  day I made my first post) this blog has led me to connect with so many people in the field of roboethics.
Now, Google tells me that over 80 people visit the Roboethics Info Database regularly, and they come from 10 different countries covering four different continents: North America, South America, Europe, and Asia. And I feel so privileged to have such a large …

CFP: Special Issue on Roboethics – IEEE Robotics and Automation Magazine

I have a very exciting news for all the roboethics researchers around the world.
A call for papers on a special issue on roboethics have just been released from IEEE Robotics and Automation Magazine(RAM)! Yes, the RAM is running a special issue on roboethics!!
Deadline for submission has been set to September 1st, 2010 (so that’s a little less than a year from now).
Guest editors for this special issue are Gianmarco Veruggio, Mike Van der Loos, and Jorge Solis.
All three of them are very approachable and active figures in the field of roboethics …

Follow Roboethics Info Database on Twitter

Some of you have noticed that ‘roboethics.amoon.ca’ was down for a few hours today. That was because I was upgrading the blog manually without a ftp host. Sorry for any confusion/inconvenience it may have caused.
The good news is that the blog is now fully integrated with Twitter.
I have just started tweeting only a few weeks ago under the name RoboEthics, and it has definitely proven itself to be useful. On the day I started tweeting, I saw almost 3-5 times more traffic than usual.
