A Perfect (Robotic) Woman – for Commercial Purposes
When David Levy published his book, Love and Sex with Robots: The Evolution of Human-Robot Relationships, he was probably expecting someone like Etienne Fresse and Yoichi Yamato to be inspired and to start something like what they presented on June 11th of this year.
Fresse and Yamato are creator of Lisa, built to be the companion robot for numerous single men looking for a companion.
It is surprising how much female android has developed throughout the years.
There’s AKIBA, and Aiko.
Aiko’s coverage on CNN is actually shows interesting ethics perspective of the robot, because Aiko reacts to inappropriate comments/behaviours of a human by slapping motion and saying things like “No. I’m not your slave.” This is definitely different from the type of behaviour one might expect from Lisa. Aiko was also designed not as a sophisticated sex toy, but as an assistant for the elderly population.

The “Perfect Woman” robot referenced above IS a real woman. It was somewhat of a hoax I recalled seeing some time ago. I thought the company behind it admitted it, but said she was only being used as an example of what they were aiming for. Perhaps I am missing something though, I’ll have to go back and check all the links.
